Step 1: Choose A Domain Name
A domain name is the web address of your new website (i.e. stonewebzone.com). You must have a domain name in order for your website to be accessed online.
You should put a lot of thought into choosing your domain name. It should be descriptive of your business, and should be as easy as possible to remember. Since there is a possibility that your first choice for a domain name may be unavailable, it is a good practice to brainstorm several names and alternatives just in case.
It is my opinion (and many others') that you should always try for a .com level domain. It's optional to purchase the .net and even .org levels, if you want to stop people from purchasing them for your domain name. Remember, though, that when people type in a domain name, it's pretty automatic that they are going to type in .com after the name. I find myself doing this even if I KNOW that it's a .net or .org!
Once you have some possible domain names in mind, it's time to check for availability, and purchase your domain name.
You can either use a domain name registration service; or you can choose a webhost that also offers registration, and register your domain with them.
